WOMCC's Dessert Inspired Cookies are here!!

The much anticipated new line of dessert inspired cookies has been officially launched! I created a new page on the website dedicated to the new line. Get your tastebuds salivating with my new menu of delicious creations. Just to give you a taste, I created a German chocolate cookie, a killer pina colada cookie, a delicious carrot cake cookie, and so many more all inspired by popular desserts.

Keep checking back on the website as I will be featuring seasonal selections as well. I am so excited to release the new line and would like to thank all my trusty taste testers for helping me with feedback on my experiments! Fear not, there will be much more to come!

Enjoy browsing the menu and please pass me a comment on what you think!

Remember: STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS!

Confectionately yours,

Nancy

WOMCC IS EXPANDING!!

WOW! It has been a really long time since I gave you any updates on the happenings of WOMCC! Well, I am back and have some very exciting news to report on what's coming!

First, wordofmouthcookieco.com has a brand new look! It is very modern and really kicks up the products.

Second, we have decided to expand our product line and include some new cookies. WOMCC was founded on bringing a unique promotional item to the market. I told myself when this started to just keep it simple, do one thing and do it well. I pondered the idea of including "standard" cookies, but wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the time on research and development. So, in recent weeks, I brought up the idea to a freind of mine, and she asked me why I wasn't doing this already! She reminded me of my creative brain and encouraged me to do something bold. Besides, the company is Word of Mouth Cookie Company, so it doesn't really have to be restricted.

I know you are curious as to what is coming. I have been in the bakery the last few weeks testing out new recipes and brainstorming new ideas. These cookies will be on trial for a while, so I can decide what stays and what goes based on the popularity. You may try one flavor and like it, but don't be surprised if it changes. All I can tell you right now until the official reveal is that you will not find cookies that you can find in any bakery. It's just not like me to do that. The flavors are inspired by popular desserts and are very unique, but very delicious as well! I will continue to test new flavors and will have some year-round as well as some seasonal cookies.

As far as the image cookies go, they are not dissappearing. In fact, they are going to be incorporated in the display and packaging of the new cookies. You will now be able to order a variety tray of new cookies topped by one WOMCC Signature imaged cookie. I chose to do this because I know you all like the cookies, but don't necessarily always need several dozen imaged cookies for your event, especially for reasons of cost. I know there are times when you just need a tray or package of cookies, or this may open some options for you. I want to stick with including the WOMCC Signature cookie with every package because those are the foundations for this business. This new line should keep the retail cost down, but still get the original marketing idea across.

Another thing I am working on is a line of gluten-free cookies. This was requested by a fellow business networking member who has an autistic child. I have since researched the correlation between autism and gluten, and also milk products. It is very fascinating, and I realized if I can create a delicious gluten-free line of cookies, I could really be doing a service to a large group of people.

So, I am very excited to reveal the new product line and can't wait to hear your reviews!

Crumbing along,

Nancy

See the magical fun of the new Kidookie Doodlers!

Here is an adorable video starring my daughter, Kylee (4) and my nephew, Dylan (5) showing off their coloring skills on my Christmas Kidookie Doodlers. They had a blast making this video for me to use at a recent BizEMoms event. The event went really well for WOMCC and Kidookie Doodlers. Stay tuned for more designs and fun coming soon! Enjoy!

It's beginning to smell alot like Christmas...

Well, the holiday cookie season is officially in full swing! The current holiday party tray goodie weight count is 76.5 lbs! It has been a busy month so far, and December should be even better. I started the postcard marketing for our fabulous Holiday Party Trays, and even sent out sample trays to a few lucky loyal customers.

I finally launched Kidookie Doodlers, the fun and exciting new activity for kid's parties. Kidookie Doodlers are WOMCC Signature Cookies that kids can color themselves with edible food markers. Several designs will be available soon to suit every need and party theme. I already got my first order!

Kidookie Doodlers will also be our featured item at Home for the Holidays presented by BizEMoms at Spectrum Elementary in Gilbert. We will have individual cookies with Christmas designs and 2 color marker sets, as well as party packs available for sale at the show. Don't miss it!

Well, Happy Thanksgiving to all and hopefully the goodie count will get heavier soon!

My LIVE TV Debut!

Well, I must say, this year's EVBA was a huge success! Laura, Delia, and Tamara all did a fantastic job! The Windemere is a beautiful venue. Thanks to all the volunteers, and to Channel 3 for doing the remote broadcast.

So, Laura was bound and determined to get me and my cookies on live TV, so she had me come and set up early in hopes of getting me on during a weather break. Well, I got a little better than that! Brittany, the weather girl on Good Morning Arizona was doing the remote. At first, she had me hold up the beautiful tray of Channel 3 logo cookies that I made for them and say "Good Morning, Arizona!" into the camera. Well, as enthusiastic as I was, you didn't get to see it because they had a loss of signal. You hear Brittany, then you see my face for a split second, then a big red stripe across my face and then all you hear is, "Zona!!" Well, the next shot before a commercial break was the tray of cookies, and Brittany keeping the suspense on the taste of the cookies. Next, the two of us had a cookie toast and taste before the next commercial. Brittany gave the cookies a thumbs up!

My interview came next. The camera was on my cookie displays the whole time, and she asked me about the business. She was really intrigued by the Kids Coloring Cookies, so she made a point to ask me about them. There were a few people that came by and said they saw me on the show. One lady saw me on there and came down specifically to talk to me! I also got a contact off my website asking about the kid's coloring cookies. She saw me on TV as well.

So I am very excited about my exposure and hopefully will get to do it again soon! I am going to try and figure out how to get the video clips up on here or on my website.

Enjoying my 15 minutes of fame,

Nancy

New Products, East Valley Bridal Affair, and the Big 3-0

Crazy, crazy, crazy is my September every year. So many family birthdays, including my hubby's, mine, and the one we added last year, my son! Hard to believe the little guy is going to turn 1 this Sunday. He is so close to walking on his own. He has already taken his first steps!

I have exactly 8 days left of my 20s. I'm not scared. I am excited about the new decade to come. I have a new business with big long-term goals, growing kids, and a husband learning to be supportive in it all. He and I also just celebrated our 8th anniversary yesterday.

September is like our golden month. So much happening, so many new beginnings, and so many opportunities.

I just posted new products for the fall, launched my holiday party tray, and a fun new product line for kid's parties. I added a new page to my website to feature seasonal products and new items.

The 2nd Annual East Valley Bridal Affair presented by BizEMoms and Delia in Any Event will be held on Sunday, September 28th at the Windemere Hotel and Conference Center in East Mesa. I will be showcasing my bridal line, as well as signature products at the show, and may even have an opportunity to make my television appearence on Channel 3! I spent the last 2 weeks preparing my product samples, and will continue into next week to finish up before the show. Please come visit my booth! Admission is free and you might win a cruise!

More to come on the EVBA recap after the show. Enjoy the new products page on my site!

My cookie business is "rolling"!

Well, I finally got my official articles of organization, and now Word of Mouth Cookie Company is an LLC! It is very exciting for me now that the state recognizes me as a "real" business. I still have much to do with legal documents, but that is the plan for today.

I also finally secured a commercial kitchen. After a brief setback with my original plan falling through, contacting every cake shop, caterer, or professional kitchen I thought I might have a chance at renting, I was given another offer from Plan A. I am really thankful for the second chance because I know the kitchen is large enough, the equipment is sufficient for what I need, and I can afford the rent. I should be signing papers today and then I'm moving in!

The timing is perfect because I have about 2 1/2 weeks to complete an order of 750 cookies and I wasn't sure my 2 little Kitchen Aid mixers could handle 30 batches of cookie dough and 3 full batches of fondant. Burning them up would not be a good thing! My arms will be very sore from rolling, but with the extra space, I will be able to roll more at once, which ends up being less rolling in the long run. I am saving my pennies to one day buy a dough sheeter to do the rolling for me.

So it's off to the bakery for me.

Running on Flour Power,

Nancy

Welcome to Cookie Crumbs, blogging and updates from WOMCC!!

"Cookies...that's how I 'roll'!" -Nancy Barter, creator of WOMCC

Thanks for visiting my brand new blog! So, I guess you are curious about my cookies and my very unique business. After about 6 years of tossing this idea around, I finally was in the right place and time to launch it. I became involved with a wonderful networking group of mom-owned businesses called BizEMoms while I was involved with a direct sales company. The women in BizEMoms have been so wonderfully supportive, so when I decided to launch my idea, they were all on board with it. Most of my orders have come from other businesses in the group, which is just what I needed to start spreading the word about my cookies.

I spent a few batches of dough perfecting my recipe for my "extreme butter vanilla" flavored sugar cookie and several tests on my final icing which is a delicious combination of buttercream and marshmallows made into a rolled fondant. The icing has a wonderful creamsicle flavor which is a perfect compliment to the cookie.

I am able to print any image, logo, photo, or text on sheets of icing that are adhered to the cookie icing. Everything is completely edible.

My cookies provide an advertising service unlike any other. Not only is it a unique promotional item, but a delicious gift and a treat for everyone who receives one. It is sure to strike a memory with clients of any business. The cookies will have an equal impact when used as a party favor.

Well, I guess that is enough of an intro to make you hungry for a sample! Check back often to see what is happening in the biz and get some useful tips on making the most of your advertising dollar.

Rollin' in the dough,
Nancy
